JICA Providing Renewable Source of Energy for FCT Water Board

JICA is an acronym for Japan International Co-operation Agency. It has an office in Nigeria and around the world saddled with the responsibility of fostering unity and co-operation between Japan and its friendly nations.

JICA has been in the forefront of organizing and sponsoring personal development and giving technical aid in various areas of technology in Nigeria and in Water Board in particular.

In the last two years, quite a number of staff have benefitted from the JICA courses.

Right now, JICA is providing the FCT Water Board with renewable source of energy through the use of 1MW Solar powered electricity system to be situated at the Lower Usuma Dam. This is the first of its kind in Nigeria and the largest in the West African sub-region.

At completion, the system will save the Water Board a total of N30,800,000.00. (Thirty million, eight hundred thousand Naira) annually.
